Role Overview
A client of byteSpark.ai is seeking a Junior Legal Counsel to join its Legal team in Dubai, UAE, offering an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified lawyer or someone with up to two years of PQE to build broad, hands-on experience within a dynamic investment and finance environment. The role will provide exposure across commercial contracts, NDAs, UAE company formations, corporate restructurings, constitutional documents, powers of attorney, free-zone authorities, corporate governance, licence renewals, trademarks and dispute support, while working closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel. This is a strong opportunity for an ambitious lawyer who wants to move beyond narrow legal work, develop practical commercial judgement and gain meaningful exposure across a wide range of corporate and business matters in the UAE.
Requirements
- Law degree and professional qualification as a lawyer, with newly qualified status to two years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Relevant legal experience within a law firm, investment company, financial services business or comparable corporate environment.
- Hands-on knowledge of UAE corporate law and company formation procedures, including incorporations, corporate restructuring and amendments to constitutional documents.
- Experience drafting, reviewing and supporting negotiation of commercial contracts and NDAs.
- Experience preparing or coordinating memoranda of association, powers of attorney, corporate resolutions and other corporate documentation, including notarisation where required.
- Experience dealing with UAE free-zone or government authorities in relation to company registrations, amendments, licences or other corporate matters.
- Ability to conduct legal and regulatory research, particularly on matters affecting corporate, investment and finance activities in the UAE.
- Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills, with fluent written and spoken English and the ability to work effectively with internal teams, external counsel and authorities.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate legal records, track company licences, governance requirements and transaction documentation.
- Exposure to corporate governance, trademark registrations or dispute-resolution support would be advantageous.
Desirable
- Hands-on experience liaising with UAE free-zone or government authorities such as JAFZ/JAFZA, NIP or DIP on company registrations, amendments, licensing or related corporate matters.
- Experience coordinating UAE or GCC trademark applications and responding to registration or renewal requirements.
- Experience preparing or coordinating powers of attorney, notarisation and execution of corporate documents.
- Exposure to dispute-resolution support, including preparing matter summaries, managing documentation and coordinating with external counsel.
- Experience maintaining corporate governance records, statutory documents and company registers.
- Exposure to legal or regulatory matters within investment, financial services or asset-management environments.
- Experience monitoring regulatory changes relevant to UAE corporate, investment or finance activities.
