Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Drilling Engineering (Workover) to lead our well engineering operations in Abu Dhabi. In this pivotal role, you will provide expert oversight for all workover activities, from initial planning and design to final execution. Your primary focus will be to champion well integrity, uphold the highest safety standards, and optimize lifecycle efficiency across our entire asset portfolio. You will lead a talented team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. This position requires a leader with deep technical mastery in well control and design, combined with robust project and contract management skills. You will be instrumental in driving operational performance, managing key stakeholder relationships, and ensuring all engineering activities align with our strategic objectives. This is a full-time, on-site role demanding strong leadership and a commitment to operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in drilling and workover engineering.
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role, leading engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated mastery in well control principles, practices, and incident management.
  • Expert-level knowledge of workover well design, well integrity, and lifecycle management.
  • In-depth understanding and application of HSE regulations and risk management frameworks.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering complex well intervention projects on time and within budget.
  • Proven experience in contract management, including tendering, negotiation, and contractor performance management.

Desirable

  • Master's degree (MSc) or PhD in Petroleum Engineering or a relevant field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification.
  • Extensive experience working in the Middle East, particularly in the UAE.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard well engineering and project management software (e.g., Landmark, Wellcat, Primavera).
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budget development and cost control for large-scale operations.
