Role Overview

We are seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer to lead the global technology vision and execution for a top-tier cryptocurrency exchange. The CTO will define our multi-year technology roadmap, architecting and delivering ultra-low-latency trading platforms and ensuring robust digital asset custody. This role involves leading a high-performing, multicultural, and globally distributed technology organization. The ideal candidate will drive innovation in areas such as Layer-2 scaling, DeFi, and zk-proofs while upholding the highest standards of security and compliance. You will be responsible for the entire technology stack, from core infrastructure to client-facing applications. This executive will ensure our platform remains scalable, secure, and at the forefront of the industry. This is a strategic leadership position for an experienced executive with a deep background in crypto or high-frequency trading, ready to shape the future of digital finance. The role is based in the UAE or Asia with an international scope.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in technology leadership roles.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) or Head of Engineering role.
  • Proven expertise in architecting, building, and managing ultra-low-latency, high-volume trading platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of cryptocurrency, major blockchain protocols (e.g., Ethereum, Bitcoin), and digital asset custody solutions.
  • Strong understanding and professional experience with Layer-2 scaling solutions, DeFi protocols, and zero-knowledge proofs (zk-proofs).
  • Demonstrable experience managing technology security, data protection, and compliance within a regulated financial or crypto environment.
  • Proven track record of defining and executing a multi-year strategic technology roadmap for a global organization.
  • Professional fluency in English.

Desirable

  • Direct professional experience within a cryptocurrency exchange or a high-frequency trading (HFT) firm.
  • Experience leading large (100+), globally distributed, multicultural engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing digital assets in key jurisdictions (e.g., UAE, Asia).
  • Professional fluency in Mandarin.
  • Published research, patents, or significant open-source contributions in blockchain or cryptography.
